bio - Shelley’s favorite accessory has been a camera ever since her dad gave her his Pentax SuperME when she was 15.

After endless hours in the high school darkroom, and plunging into photojournalism classes in college, she knew her passion for taking photos would last a lifetime. Even though Shelley has been a professional photographer for 20 years, she is still excited by each and every gig and thrilled that she gets to take photos for a living. 

Shelley has photographed countless weddings and loves to watch each unique story unfold as she captures the magic.

Events she has captured — both social and corporate — have ranged from milestone celebrations to company social hours and conferences to destination experiences to cutting it up on the dance floor with teens during a quinceanera or a bar mitzvah.

Portraits include everything from executive headshots to documenting newborn and family photos to helping small business owners tell their stories.

Shelley has spent a lifetime in the Midwest, primarily as a Chicagoan, but recently transplanted to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2017 with her husband, Tyler Huffman, and their daughter. They love exploring the Bay and live in the small island community of Alameda right outside San Francisco. She will always feel rooted in Chicago and travels back often to see family, friends and the Cage + Aquarium crew.

Shelley is co-founder of Cage + Aquarium. She currently serves on the Board of the International Live Events Association Northern California Chapter.
